“Top Sellers” On CDBaby (Michael Meanwhile & Farewell Michael Meanwhile)
“Sweeping universal narratives and steel-guitar weepers with a touch of Muscle Shoals soul, rolling from strength to strength on the back of his bands empathetic accompaniment.”
The Oregonian
“Rise and Fall is in my personal heavy rotation. Something about Michael Sheridan’s voice and that saxophone…”
Performing Songwriter
“…unsung Portland band who deserve a lot more recognition than they currently get. Michael himself produced these 10 songs and his songwriting has gotten better with each release and AFTERNOONS is definitely the best yet. He/they start off with a wonderful trifecta from the shuffling, acoustic opener “Good for Me” to the pedal-steel soaked (courtesy of Richmond Fontaine’s Paul Brainerd, the song itself sound very Ryan Adams & the Cardinals-ish) while cut #3, starts with some serious handclaps, a resounding “Woo!” and then some groovy organ. I love Sheridan’s soft, emotive voice while the playing on the record is top notch.”

“On …Farewell Michael Meanwhile, guitar, horn and organ flourishes are sprinkled throughout Sheridan’s songs, and a fog of melancholy hangs over the entire album. But the best feature of National Flower’s sound is Sheridan’s soaring melodies, which fit nicely on the same shelf as his rock contemporaries.”
The Bulletin
“If John Mayer suddenly decided that he was a true songwriter – rather than another polished pop sensation whose now teaming up with Kanye West and whoever else has the next big radio shimmer – he would probably be close to Michael Sheridan. It’s been a while since I’ve heard a CD that actually shines. Back in the days when Toad the Wet Sprocket and R.E.M. were household names, this CD would have been sitting right at the top of the pile. Unfortunately, those days are gone and a great CD such as Coming Quietly, is pushed into the background. The simplicity and ease of this CD is exactly what is so refreshing about Sheridan. As Sheridan says in “Riot,” “wish we could start a riot.” I wish we could somehow infuse more songwriting into our radio stations; if we could, we may come up with Michael Meanwhile. Until then, we must love our independent artists and pick up a copy of Coming Quietly, by Michael Meanwhile.”

Welcome back – I’ve missed your music. When are you coming back to Bend?
Gladto see that you have a new CD; your previous one is one of my favorite local issues, and I feared you’d dissolved. I heard you play in Forest Grove some time ago, and would like to catch the show again.
Thanks Preston. I had to take some time off and I am very pleased to be back at again. We will be playing in SE Portland on January 15th at The Woods. Come on down if you can.
Nothing is on the books for Bend just yet. I will certainly let you know when we make it back down….Thanks!
